My new 15' and 13' - 1 TB SSD Macbook Pro Retina laptops both have a similar problem. They frequenty hang/freeze/lock up and when I try to restart or shut down, the most I get is the blank screen with the turning wheel - permanently- and I have to force power off to get a response. Apple concentrates on it's latest toy, gives a half hearted refresh of the Macbook Pro 13', a less than half hearted update to the Macbook air (no force touch bad, no retina display like people have been begging for years now), and the 15' macbook pro is totally ignored with not a single upgrade. 
My 2013 MacBook pro retina also have the problem with trackpad too, it sluggish or not register tap to click at all. Mojave beta also. Solution: wait until official Mojave and not install beta version anymore.

I've been a Mac user since I was in elementary school and am fully invested in the macOS and iOS ecosystem. I also put a premium on customer service, an area where Apple has excelled for me.
